How to Care for Fresh Flowers

If you're like me, then you love buying flowers. But if you're not careful, your lovely flowers can quickly wither and die. Taking care of fresh flowers is not as hard as it may seem. In fact, with just a few simple tips on how to take care of fresh flowers - you can have your bouquet looking beautiful for days (or even weeks!).

Flowers are one of the most popular gifts to give and receive. However, flowers don't last forever and they require some care in order to stay fresh. Here are a few tips on how to take care of fresh flowers:

BEFORE YOU START:

Make sure you have the right tools! You'll need a sharp knife or scissors for cutting stems, as well as a clean vase for holding flowers. Next, fill the vase with fresh, cool water. Add a pinch of flower food to the water, which will help the flowers stay hydrated.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF FRESH FLOWERS:

1. Give your flowers a fresh trim by cutting the stems (at about a 45° angle) so they can better absorb water

2. Add flowers to your clean vase or container with fresh, cool water

3. Place your flowers in a cool location without direct sunlight. Flowers need sunlight, but TOO much direct sunlight will cause flowers to wilt quickly!

4. Check the water level daily and replenish as needed. Flowers will drink a lot of water, so it's important to keep them hydrated.

5. Remove any dead or dying flowers/buds from the arrangement. This will help extend the life of the other flowers.

Change the water every few days, and trim the stems again if necessary. With just a little bit of TLC, your flowers will stay fresh and beautiful for days.
