When Should I Book My Wedding Florist? Don't Wait Too Long!

Planning your dream wedding comes with plenty of moving parts–from securing your must-have venue to choosing the right vendor team. Flowers are an essential part of your big day to help set the tone and bring your vision to life. Planning a wedding doesn’t have to be stressful – with the right timeline, planning can be fun! Today, we’re answering one of the questions we hear the most: when should I book my wedding florist?

#1 Start with Your Venue and Wedding Date

It’s important to secure your wedding venue and date first before you begin reaching out to florists. Your venue’s decor, layout, and theme will guide your flower decor–and knowing your wedding date will help florists recommend the perfect seasonal blooms for your specific day.

We recommend you book your florist 8-12 months before your wedding. When you book early, you’ll have more time to plan and a chance to dream big. Plus, you’ll have more availability and selections to choose from for your wedding. During our first meeting, we’ll chat about what your dream vision looks like, we’ll take a look at your inspiration photos, and we’ll show you examples of our past work. Together, we’ll come up with the perfect arrangements for your special day

#2 Secure Your Wedding Florist

Once you’ve selected your wedding florist, most shops will request a deposit–typically 20-50%–to reserve your date. Take a breath – your flowers are officially off the to-do list! Now you can focus on the rest of your wedding details knowing that your flowers are in trusted hands.

#3 Finalize Your Choices 2-3 Months Before Your Wedding

Even if you book your florist early, you don’t need to finalize your flower choices right away. We suggest you make your final decisions about 2-3 months before your big day. Why wait? As your date approaches, you’ll have a better idea of your guest count (and how many tables or centerpieces you’ll need), and you may even change your mind about a specific flower or color. Finalizing closer to your wedding ensures your flowers will reflect your most current vision.

At New City Florist, we provide a FREE sample of your centerpieces about 2-3 weeks before your wedding! You’ll get a preview of what we’re designing so you can feel confident, excited, and fall in love with your flowers.

Relax–We’ll Handle the Rest

From the moment you choose us, we’ll stay in touch throughout your planning! Our team will work directly with your venue to schedule delivery and set-up times that align with your day-of timeline.
